About
Suad Alad is an editor, writer, and poet based in the GTA who recently graduated from McMaster University in the Honours English and Cultural Studies program. As a child, she dreamed of being a singer/actress, but soon realized poetry and fiction writing were where her talents would be better suited. She is well versed in structural forms of academic, creative, and non-fiction writing and often takes aspects of philosophical and critical thinking learnt in her undergrad and applies them to her abstract observations in politics, literature, and film.
In September of 2023 she continued her studies at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she is working to earn a Masters of Arts through their Literatures of Modernity program. She one day hopes to create work that is as thought provoking and impactful as late authors Andrea Dworkin, Audre Lorde, and Bell Hooks, and hopes to grow up and be like Angela Davis.

When she is not reading, writing, or thinking about the world in a metaphorical sense, she enjoys listening to music, public transit, watching video essays, crocheting (even if she is bad at it), second hand book shops, clay skin masks, her journal, and being surrounded by nature. Her favourite colour is green, and her favourite animals are otters, penguins, and cats.
